Keep the discussions in one place by adding comments to your tasks in Todoist. In a comment, you can post notes, upload a file, or notify someone for their input, so that context is always available for anyone working on the task.
Add comments and files to tasks
- Hover over a task and click the speech bubble icon that appears to the right of the task name.
- Type a comment into the comment field.
- Click any of the following:
- Paperclip icon: attach a file. See all the supported file types.
- Microphone icon: record an audio comment.
- Emoji icon: add an emoji.
- Tag someone to notify them about your comment, if needed.
- Click Comment to save it.
Comments are always listed chronologically in the task. You can't manually change their order.
- Tap a task to open the task view.
- Tap the Comment input field at the bottom.

- Type your notes in the Comment field.

Add comments and files to projects
Project comments are attached to the whole project rather than a single task. They keep any high-level project information or files organized and in one place. If you're working in shared projects, project comments are handy for keeping everyone on the same page.
- Click the project in the sidebar.
- Click the comment icon at the top-right.
- Enter your comment or click the paper clip icon to attach a file.
- Click Comment to save it.

- Tap the three dots icon at the top-right.
- Tap Comments.

Notify someone about a comment
There will be times when you write a comment and want to make sure your teammate sees it. In those cases, you can notify them.
To notify someone about a task comment in a personal project, you’ll need to first share the project. To notify someone in a team project, make sure that person is part of your team. Then, follow these steps:
If you need to tag the person right in the comment:
- Click either the task comment field or the project comment field.
- Enter
@in the comment field and start typing out their name. You’ll see a list of names that match. Click the name of the person to tag in the comment. - Write your comment or attach a file.
- Click Comment.
If you’d like to notify the person without tagging them directly in the comment:
- Click either the task comment field or project comment field.
- Click Notify.
- Select the people you’d like to notify or click Everyone to notify all the members of the project.
- Write your comment or attach a file.
- Click Comment.
If you need to tag the person right in the comment:
- Tap either the task comment field or the project comment field.
- Enter

- Tap the red send icon to post the comment.
When you post the comment, the selected people will receive the comment in their notifications.
Delete a comment
- Click a task to open the task view.
- Find your comment in the Comments section.
- Click the three dots icon to the right.
- Select Delete.
- Tap a task to open the task view.
- Tap Show all and find your comment in the Comments section.
- Tap the three dots icon to the right.
- Select Delete.
- Tap a task to open the task view.
- Tap Show all and find your comment in the Comments section.
- Tap the three dots icon to the right.
- Select Delete.
Delete a file
- Click a task to open the task view.
- Find your file attachment in the Comments section.
- Click the three dots icon to the right.
- Select Edit.
- Click Delete beside the file name.
- Click Update to save the changes.
- Tap a task to open the task view.
- Tap Show all and find your file attachment in the Comments section.
- Tap the three dots icon to the right.
- Select Delete.
- Tap a task to open the task view.
- Tap Show all and find your file attachment in the Comments section.
- Tap the three dots icon to the right.
- Select Delete.
