Automations keep you informed when something needs your attention through push notifications either on your device or by email. Choose which alerts to receive by updating your account settings to fit or match your routine.
Turn on notifications for web and mobile
Let's start by updating your alert settings directly in the app on your web browser or mobile device:
- Click Automations at the top-left.
- Select Settings.
- Turn on push notifications, email notifications, or both in the Failure alerts section.
- Select Allow in your browser or device settings when prompted.
Review failure alerts
If an automation fails, you'll get a notification right away, so you can investigate and fix the problem quickly. Push and email failure alerts are turned on by default to keep your workflows running smoothly.
Set up push notifications inside an automation
Push notifications is a built-in feature that's always available - no external account needed. You can add it as a standalone step inside any automation, so it can send you an alert when Todoist runs or finishes a workflow.
For example, tell the Automations assistant: “When this automation finishes, send me a push notification with a summary.”
Push notifications from your automations are delivered to any device where you use Todoist and have notifications enabled.
Remove push notifications from your automation
If you no longer want the automation to send a push or email notification, follow these steps:
- Click your automation.
- Click Change in chat. You can also select the chat bar at the bottom of your screen.
- Use natural language to have the Automations assistant remove the push or email notification step.
