Todoist Automations connect securely to the apps you already use to get work done. Each connection determines what an automation can do in that app. Build automations that can add a task, send a message, or watch for updates like a new email or calendar event.

Automations currently supports connections to 51 third-party apps, including Calendly, Gmail, Google Calendar, GitHub, Notion, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and Todoist. Each app supports actions (your automation performs tasks in that app), updates (your automation watches the app for changes), or both.

Check the list of actions or trigger events
Discover what's possible with each connection before you even start creating an automation. If you're not sure what a connection can do for you, open the connection page and select one out of these two options.
Do actions
Search for all the supported actions you can do with the connection. The list of actions is specific to the account you connected, so what you see reflects what that account can do.
If the list isn’t ready, you might see one of these messages when you select it:

| This app isn’t sharing any actions right now. | The app doesn’t offer any actions to list yet. |
Check for updates
Search for all the supported trigger events you can set up with the connection. When you click Check for updates, a search field appears and helps you find a specific event.
If nothing matches, you’ll see the message: No matches. Try a different search.
If the connection doesn’t offer any updates yet, you’ll see the message: This app doesn’t list any updates that can start an automation yet.
Connect an app
When you're ready, connect an app to Todoist Automations:
- Click Connections in the navigation menu.
- Find the app you want to connect and click on it.
- Click Connect under Connection for actions, Connection for updates, or both.
- Follow the onscreen authorization steps for that app.
You can connect more than one account for the same app, like a work Gmail and a personal Gmail. If you've authorized two or more accounts for an app connection, check or manage them any time by selecting Connections in the navigation menu.
Disconnect an app
If you no longer want to use an integration or you’re troubleshooting a broken setup, you can remove a connection any time:
- Click Connections in the navigation menu.
- Find the app you want to disconnect and click on it.
- Click Connected, then click Disconnect under your active connections.
- Follow the onscreen confirmation steps to remove the integration.
If an enabled automation still depends on that connection, Automations blocks the disconnection and lists the automations you need to disable first.
