Your profile and billing information come straight from Todoist, but some settings live inside Todoist Automations itself: how AI personalizes your automations, color themes, notification preferences, and your current account usage. Here’s what each settings page covers, and where to make changes.
Account
The Account page shows a read-only summary of your Todoist plan and profile:
- Plan: shows your current plan. Click Manage plan to open Todoist on a new browser tab and make changes to your subscription.
- Account: shows your name and email. Click Manage account to open Todoist on a new browser tab and update your information.
You’ll also find links to the Todoist Terms and Privacy policy.
Onboarding
Click Reset onboarding to replay the Automations setup flow from the start. When you reset onboarding, Automations marks your account as not onboarded, clears its preferred services, and reloads the app back into the onboarding flow.
Preferences
The Preferences page controls what AI remembers about you, how Automations looks, and which of the Todoist apps are displayed on your sidebar.
Personalization
Add notes to the Personalization field for Automations to keep in mind in every chat. Notes can contain up to 4,000 characters. Click Save once you’re done. The Save button stays disabled until you’ve made a change.
Appearance
Under Theme, choose System, Light, or Dark to control how Automations looks on your device.
Apps
Turn on Show other apps to link to the other Todoist apps from your sidebar on this device. After turning it on, select which apps to display on the sidebar.
Notifications
The Notifications page controls the type of alerts to receive notifications for, and how Automations lets you know about them. Failed runs, pending questions, and low balance alerts each have their own Push and Email switches. Learn more about every alert type, how to customize your notifications, and how to troubleshoot issues with them.
Balance & Usage
The Balance & Usage page is where you can review your Automations usage. It has three sections:
Balance
This section shows how much compute you have left, with a Go to billing button for your payment details and a Top up button for adding more.
Usage
This section shows your cost for Messages and your cost for Automation runs.
Transactions
This section shows a dated list of your top-ups and balance adjustments, with the value for each.
Top up
The Top up page is where you add compute to your account. If your Automations balance is low, here’s how to top up:
- Click your avatar at the bottom-left.
- Click Top up account. You’ll see how much compute you have left.
- Choose $5, $10, or $20. To enter a different amount, select Other and enter the amount. The minimum is $5.
- Click Continue to Checkout. If you’re using Todoist Automations as an installed app, checkout opens in a new browser tab. If you’re using the web app, it opens in the same tab.
- Sign in to your Link account or select Pay without Link.
- Enter your payment details and select Pay. Skip this step if you signed in with Link.
Connections
Unlike the pages above, the Connections page is on the main sidebar of Todoist Automations. It’s where you authorize Todoist-only or third-party apps your automations need to connect to build your workflows.
The Connections page lists the following:
- Your apps: services you’ve already connected. If you use multiple accounts for the same app, each account appears as its own entry.
- Available apps: services you can connect, including apps like Airtable, Slack, Notion, and GitHub. Each is labeled as DO ACTIONS when automations can perform tasks in it, CHECK FOR UPDATES when automations can react to its events, or both.
Select a connected app to open its detail page. You’ll see two connection types:
- Connection for actions: lets automations do tasks for you in that app.
- Connection for updates: lets automations know when to start working, based on events in that app.
Each connection type connects and disconnects independently, and an app only shows what it actually supports. Click Connected next to either one, then Disconnect to remove it.
The app detail page also lists every automation currently using that connection, marked Active or Disabled, so you can see what depends on it before you disconnect.
