The table layout displays your tasks as rows, and task details like dates or assignee as columns. Unlike the board layout, which is used to move tasks through different stages, the table layout makes large sets of tasks easier to scan and compare, with details like priorities, assignees, or deadlines side by side. To organize your project, you can show, hide, or move columns, apply specific sorting options, or use filters to narrow the list down.
Apply the table layout to a project
- Open a project in Todoist.
- Click Display at the top-right.
- Select Table.
If you're sharing a project with others, open the Display menu and select Save for everyone to make the table layout the default for everyone, no matter the Todoist plan they're on. To switch back, click the Display menu and select List, Board, or Calendar.
The table layout isn't available in Todoist for iOS and Android. If a project uses the table layout, it's displayed as a list in the Todoist mobile apps.
Apply the table layout to a filter or label
- Click Filters & Labels in the sidebar.
- Select the filter or label to apply the layout to.
- Click Display at the top-right.
- Select Table.
To switch back, click the Display menu and select List, Board, or Calendar.
The table layout isn't available in Todoist for iOS and Android. If a filter or label uses the table layout, it's displayed as a list in the Todoist mobile apps.
Show or hide columns in the table layout
Each task is a row with its task attributes displayed in columns. You can show or hide these columns based on your preferences:
- Assignee (in a project, only available if the project is shared with others)
- Created by (only available in shared projects, or in other views if you share projects with others)
- Created
- Description
- Date
- Deadline
- Priority
- Project (only available in Today, Upcoming, filter, and label views)
- Labels
To choose which columns to add to or hide in the table:
- Open the Todoist web or desktop app.
- Open a project or view that uses the table layout.
- Click Display at the top-right.
- Select Columns.
- Toggle the columns you want to see or hide in the table.
In the same menu, under Columns > Task details, you can also toggle Comments, Reminders, and Sub-tasks on or off. The Task column is the only one you can't hide from the table.
Reorder columns in the table layout
When organizing project data, you may prefer to see information like priority or deadlines ahead of other task details.
To reorder columns of the table, click and hold a column header. Then, drag the column to the left or right of the table.
Sort or group tasks in the table layout
Sort tasks by any column except by Description, Created by, and Labels. You can also group tasks by date, priority, assignee (in shared projects), and more. For example, group by assignee to see each person's workload, or sort by deadline to see which tasks are due soon.
- Open a project or view that uses the table layout.
- Click Display at the top-right.
- In the Sort section, click Grouping or Sorting.
- Select how to group or sort your tasks.

Filter tasks in the table layout
Filter the table by Date, Deadline, Priority, Labels, Created, or Assignee to narrow down the list and focus on specific tasks. Today and Upcoming don't have a Date filter, and in a project, you can only filter by Assignee if the project is shared with others. To apply a filter to the table:
- Open the Todoist web or desktop app.
- Open a project or view that uses the table layout.
- Click a column header.
- Select the filter option to apply it to the table.
A dot appears on the header of a filtered column. You can also filter tasks from the Display menu. To remove a filter, click the column header and clear the option.
Change task details in the table layout
Click a task's row to open the task and edit it. To change only one detail, like the date or the priority, click it in its column. You can change dates, priority, assignees, and labels the same way you do in the list layout.
To add a comment, click the task's row to open it and post a comment. If Comments is turned on under Columns > Task details, you can also click the comment count to view the discussion in the task.
