Create a project

When working on something that requires more than a single task, a project is the best way to get organized. Here's how to create a new project:

  1. In the left-hand navigation menu, next to Projects, click the + icon.
  2. Type out the name of your new project.
  3. To change your project's color, click the color dot to the left of your project name.
  4. Click Add Project to create the project.
  5. (Optional) You can then drag and drop your project to a new place on your project list, or turn your project into a sub-project.
  1. Tap the menu icon in the top left in Todoist.
  2. Tap Projects.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of your project list and tap + Add project.
  4. Type out the name of your new project.
  5. Select a color for your project from the color drop-down.
  6. (Optional) To make your new project a sub-project, tap the Parent field and select the project you want your new project to be nested under.
  7. (Optional) To share your new project with someone else, tap Add collaborators.
  8. (Optional) If you want to save your project as a favorite, tap the Favorite checkbox.
  9. When you’re finished, tap the send icon in the top right to create the project.

  3. To give your project a color, tap the Color field.
  4. (Optional) To share your new project with someone else, tap Shared and add collaborators.
  5. (Optional) To make your new project a sub-project, tap the Parent field and select the project you want your new project to be nested under.
  6. When you’re finished, tap Done in the top right to create the project.
  1. Click the Projects tab on the left in Todoist.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of your project list.
  3. Click + Add project.
  4. In the right-side panel, type out the name of the project.
  5. Select a color for your project from the color drop-down.
  6. To share your new project with someone else, click + Add people.
  7. Click Save.
When creating a project, you can’t use @, #, +, and = in the project title. The only special characters allowed in project names are ., _, and -.
