Edit a task

Sometimes a task needs a little change -- whether that's a new due date or new priority. Here's how to edit a task’s title, date, project, priority and more.

Click on a task name and you’ll see the edit task view, where you can:

    • Edit the task name by typing into the task name input field.
    • Schedule (or reschedule) the task by clicking the schedule box to the right.
    • (In shared projects) Assign the task to someone in a shared project by clicking the person icon to the right of the task.
    • Move the task to a different project by clicking the project icon to the bottom right of the task.
    • Assign a label by clicking the label icon to the bottom right of the task.
    • Set a reminder by clicking the clock icon to the bottom right of the task.
    • Set the priority by clicking the flag icon to the bottom right of the task.
    • Turn the task into a sub-task or parent task by clicking the three dots icon to the bottom right of the task and selecting any of these options from the drop-down menu.

Right-click on a task name, select Edit and you’ll see the edit task view, where you can:

    • Edit the task name by typing into the task name input field.
    • Schedule (or reschedule) the task by clicking the schedule box to the right.
    • Move the task to a different project by clicking the project icon to the bottom right of the task.
    • (In shared projects) Assign the task to someone in a shared project by clicking the person icon to the bottom right of the task.
    • Assign a label by clicking the label icon to the bottom right of the task.
    • Set a reminder by clicking the clock icon to the bottom right of the task.
    • Set the priority by clicking the flag icon to the bottom right of the task.
  1. Tap on any task to select it.
  2. In the menu that appears at the bottom of your screen, tap the pencil icon.
  3. You’ll see the edit task view, where you can:
    • Edit the task name by typing into the task name input field.
    • Move the task to a project by tapping Project beneath the task name and selecting the new project.
    • (Optional) Assign the task to someone in a shared project by tapping Assign to and then selecting the person to assign it to.
    • Schedule (or reschedule) the task by tapping Due date and selecting a (new) date.
    • Set the priority by tapping Priority and selecting the priority.
    • Assign a label by tapping Labels and selecting a label.
    • Turn the task into a sub-task by tapping Parent and selecting a parent task.
    • Set a reminder by tapping Reminders.
  1. Tap on any task to select it.
  2. In the menu that appears underneath the task, tap the pencil icon.
  3. You’ll see the edit task view, where you can:
    • Edit the task name by typing into the task name input field.
    • Move the task to a project by tapping Project beneath the task name and selecting the new project.
    • Schedule (or reschedule) the task by tapping Date and selecting the new date.
    • Set a reminder by tapping Reminders.
    • (Optional) Assign the task to someone by tapping Assign to and selecting the person to assign the task to.
    • Set the priority by tapping one of the four flags beside Priority.
    • Assign a label by tapping Labels and selecting a label.
    • Turn this task into a sub-task by tapping Parent task and selecting a parent task.
You can quickly make changes to a task by simply typing out Quick Add shortcuts after the task name. For instance, move your task to the #Work project and set it’s due date to today by typing “#Work today” at the end of your task name.
