What can I do if I'm not getting any notifications?

Are you having trouble with your notifications? Maybe you added a reminder to your task, but it's not showing up on your device? Try out these troubleshooting steps and you’ll have your notifications pop-up in no time.

Make sure Todoist notifications are enabled for your device

Each browser has its own steps to enable web notifications. Please click on the browser you’re using for the latest instructions:

Make sure you’ve also enabled notifications in your operating system’s settings.
  1. Click the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
  2. Click Notifications.
  3. On the left, select Todoist.
  4. Make sure either Banners or Alerts is selected.
Notifications are not available on Windows Legacy platforms.

  3. On the left, select Notifications & Actions.
  4. Make sure that Get notifications from apps and other senders is toggled on.
  5. Scroll down until you find Todoist and make sure it's toggled on.
  6. (Optional) You can customize the type of notifications you’d like to see by click on Todoist.

  4. Make sure Allow Notifications is toggled on.

Check if your reminders are set up correctly

  1. At the top right of your Todoist, click the gear icon and select Settings.
  2. Click the Reminders tab.
  3. Check the box next to the type of notification you’d like to receive:
    • Desktop notification to get notifications via your operating system.
    • Mobile push-notification to get notifications on your mobile device.
    • Email to receive a reminder email on the address that you’ve added via Settings → Account.
  4. (Optional) If you want to get a notification for all tasks with a due time, select a relative time from the default time drop-down.

  4. (Optional) When you snooze a reminder on Windows 10, you can choose to be reminded again at a later time. Below “When snoozed wait…”, select an interval from the drop-down.
  5. (Optional) To get a reminder for all tasks with a due time, select a relative time from the Send automatic reminders drop-down.
Focus Assist blocks Todoist notifications by default. If you want to receive notifications in priority mode, make sure to add Todoist via Windows' SettingsSystemFocus Assist → under Priority only, click Customize your priority list → click Add an app → select Todoist.

Make sure your Todoist is up to date

  1. In the top right, click the gear icon.
  2. Select New version available to update.
To make sure you’re on the latest version, check if the number corresponds with the Todoist for Web changelog.

  3. If an update is available for Todoist, click Update.

  2. In the top right, click on the three dots icon and select Downloads and updates.
  3. Click Get updates.
  4. If an update is available for Todoist, it will now be installed.

Q: Can I get a default reminder for tasks without a due time?

A: No, simply because the default reminders are relative to the due time of a task.

A: Here are a few things you can try to get your notifications working:

  • Make sure your device is not in low power mode or running a battery saver app.
  • Disable programs like Clean Master and other blocker apps which prevent notifications from popping up.
