Plan ahead with Upcoming view

If you want to see all your upcoming tasks at a glance and quickly organize them in one place, try Upcoming view. You’ll be able to check on approaching deadlines, easily create or reschedule tasks to better fit your schedule, and review your plans for days, weeks or even months ahead.

How to see your upcoming tasks

  1. In the left-hand menu, click Upcoming.
  2. Scroll down through the list to see tasks scheduled for any day in the future.
  3. View a different week by clicking the left and right facing arrow buttons in the top right-hand corner (next to the Today button). Click on any date of the week to see the tasks scheduled for that day.
  4. To quickly jump to any future date, click the name of the current month (e.g. April 2020) in the top left-hand corner and select the month and date you need.
  5. To get back to today’s date, click the Today button in the top right-hand corner.

A “busy” dot icon under a date in the date picker indicates that you have tasks scheduled on that day (at least one). Dates without the dot indicator are free of tasks.

How to schedule or reschedule tasks

  1. In the left-hand menu, click Upcoming.
  2. Go to any date in the future by scrolling down the task list or using the week picker at the top.
  3. Click + Add task to create a task on a selected day.
  4. To reschedule an existing task, simply drag and drop it to its new date, or hover over a task and click the calendar icon next to it to pick a new date there.
  5. To quickly reschedule overdue tasks, click Reschedule at the top right.

  3. Drag and drop the Dynamic Add button from the bottom right to a day where you would like to create a new task. Enter your task name.
  4. To reschedule an existing task, simply drag and drop it to its new date, or open the scheduler for any specific task to choose a new date there.
  5. To quickly reschedule overdue tasks, tap Rescheduleat the top right.

  5. To quickly reschedule all overdue tasks, tap Reschedule at top right.

FAQ

How far in the future can I see my tasks in the Upcoming view?

Currently, the Upcoming view allows you to see and schedule tasks for two years in the future.

Is it possible to select past due dates in the Upcoming view?

No, it’s not possible to select past due dates in the date picker or schedule tasks for any date in the past. However, all overdue tasks will appear at the top of the task list for you to review or reschedule.

How can I hide overdue tasks from my Upcoming view?

It’s not currently possible to exclude overdue tasks from the Upcoming view. 

Can I access the Upcoming view in my Android widget?

Due to technical limitations, in Android widget and on WearOS, the Upcoming view only shows the next 7 days and doesn’t include the week picker at the top.

My start page was set to open the default Next 7 days view. Do I need to change it to the Upcoming view now?

No need to change. The Next 7 days view should automatically be replaced by the new Upcoming view in your start page settings.

Is Upcoming View coming to Todoist for Windows 10?

Unfortunately, Upcoming View won't be coming to Todoist for Windows 10, as we're currently evaluating the platform to see how we can give you a better overall experience. We’ll have more information for you as soon as we can. We appreciate your patience and are confident this will lead to a better Windows 10 user experience with Upcoming View down the line. In the meantime, we hope you give this feature a try on the Web version.
