Customize the sidebar menu in Todoist

The sidebar menu (referred to as navigation menu on mobile devices) is where you can do all your navigation in Todoist. Access your views (such as the Inbox, your Today view, and your filters and labels), all your Favorites, and your projects.

If you’re using Todoist for macOS, Todoist for Windows, or the Todoist web app, click the three lines icon in the top-left side to show or hide the sidebar menu.

Customize your sidebar menu

  1. Click your avatar at the top-right side of Todoist.
  2. Select Settings. You'll see several options in the side menu.
  3. Click Sidebar.
  4. Customize your sidebar menu:
    • Under Show in sidebar, show or hide view(s) in the sidebar.
    • Under Show task count, use the Show the task count toggle to show or hide the task counts for views and projects.
  5. Click Update to save your changes.
  1. Tap the gear icon in the top-right side.
  2. Tap Navigation Menu.
  3. Customize your sidebar:
    • Select whether you want to see task counts or not under Show task count.
    • Select what you want to see in your sidebar under Menu items.
  4. Tap back to Settings and tap Done to save your changes.
  1. Drag the bottom app bar up your screen. This will open the menu.
  2. Tap the settings icon.
  3. Select Navigation menu.
  4. Customize your sidebar:
    • Select what you want to see in your sidebar under Menu items.
    • Select whether you want to see task counts or not under Show task count.
  5. Tap the arrow icon.

Find a view hidden from the sidebar menu

When using the Todoist web app, Todoist for macOS, or Todoist for Windows, find any view hidden from the sidebar menu:

  1. Use the keyboard shortcut Cmd + K (on macOS) or Ctrl + K (on Windows 10/11). A menu will appear.
  2. Select the view to open it.
