Have a question about our private beta? Read on for answers:

What is the private beta?

This private beta is many years in the making! We released Todoist Business back in 2014, but, since then, hadn't made any significant changes to the way people can collaborate in Todoist. After working on the technical building blocks for the last three years, we're finally ready to release some big new collaboration and sharing features to private beta. We're excited to get these features into the hands of beta testers!

Will there be a public beta?

The beta is private for now but will open up to the public in the near future.

What sort of level of stability can I expect from the private beta?

If you join the private beta you can expect the app to have some rough edges in the form of bugs or certain technical limitations, though it should overall provide you with a relatively stable experience.

What sort of technical limitations can I expect in the private beta?

When we open the private beta, moving projects, sections, and tasks between personal and team workspaces won’t be supported yet. We’re also working on guest support, so for now you won’t be able to invite people outside the workspace as project collaborators. We’ll release both of these features soon.

Do you want more information about what is or isn’t available in the private beta? Check out the private beta features overview.

What’s expected of me if I get selected to join the private beta?

Our product team will be in regular contact with beta testers. Over the course of the private beta, it’s likely that we’ll request your feedback in a variety of ways: via surveys, interviews, in-app feedback, etc.

How can I keep up to date about the features that are being released in the private beta?

We plan to publish bi-weekly updates about the beta on the What’s New page in our Help Center.

If I get selected to be a beta tester, can I opt out of user testing and still use the beta features?

Of course. We are looking for committed beta testers who are motivated to share feedback and report bugs on a regular basis, however, there’s no obligation to continue participating in user testing if you no longer wish to do so.

I want to go back to using the release version of Todoist. How can I leave the private beta?

Should you choose to opt-out of testing, you can switch back to the regular version of Todoist at any point by either leaving or deleting the workspace you’ve created.

Leaving a workspace

When you leave a workspace you will no longer have access to it and you’re automatically removed from all of the workspace’s projects you joined. Other members of the workspace will not be affected by this and will continue to retain access to the workspace and its projects.

Here’s how to leave your workspace:

  1. Log in to your Todoist account on https://todoist.com.
  2. Click your avatar in the top-right corner.
  3.  In the tab on the left-hand side, scroll down until you see the name of your workspace. Below the name, click on General.
  4. Click on Leave workspace

Deleting a workspace

When you delete a workspace, it will immediately and permanently delete all your workspace data, including all projects, tasks, comments, and files. This cannot be undone. This action affects you and everyone else in the workspace.

Here’s how to delete your workspace:

  1. Log in to your Todoist account on https://todoist.com.
  2. Click your avatar in the top-right corner.
  3.  In the tab on the left-hand side, scroll down until you see the name of your workspace. Below the name, click on General.
  4. Click on Delete workspace
